Make the World's Best Oatmeal at Home
It's so simple. Bring 2 cups water and 1/4 tsp. salt (optional) to a boil. Add 1 cup of rolled oats, reduce heat and cook for 10 to 20 minutes (time depending on the consistency that you like you cereal) stirring occasionally. Cover, remove from heat and let stand a few minutes. Enjoy. Makes one serving.
In the Microwave
Say you're in a hurry. Combine 1/2 cup oats and 1 cup water. Cover and microwave on high for 3 to 5 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes. Enjoy. Makes one serving.
- Serve with milk, cream, or a pat of butter.
- Add brown sugar, honey, or maple syrup for sweetness.
- Add fresh or dried fruit, raisins, nuts, and/or cinnamon.
